JULY 21, 2022 – MEDFORD, Ore. — Spectrum today announced construction will soon be underway on a fiber-optic network expansion project that will bring Spectrum Internet, Mobile, TV and Voice services to more than 4,000 homes and small businesses in Jackson County. Spectrum’s upcoming fiber-optic network buildout in Jackson County is part of the company’s approximately $5 billion investment in unserved rural communities, which includes $1.2 billion won in the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) RDOF auction. The company’s RDOF expansion will provide broadband access to approximately 1 million customer locations as estimated by the FCC across 24 states in the coming years.

Spectrum Internet Gig, with download speeds of 1 Gbps, will be available throughout the buildout area. Spectrum Internet offers starting speeds of 300 Mbps, with Spectrum Internet Ultra providing download speeds of 500 Mbps. For small and medium-sized businesses, Spectrum Business Internet offers download speeds of 300 Mbps, 600 Mbps and 1 Gbps. Local residents and business owners should visit spectrumruralexpansion.com to learn more about when their home or business may be able to receive Spectrum services.

“Broadband is a vital resource for work, learning and personal connection,” said Spectrum Group Vice President Keri Askew Bailey. “Leveraging resources won in the RDOF auction, we’re building a high- speed, high-capacity network that will bring gigabit internet to thousands of homes and small businesses in Jackson County — an investment that will ensure families and businesses can participate fully in the digital world, now and well into the future.”

Representative Pam Marsh joined Spectrum representatives and members of the community this afternoon to celebrate the upcoming construction of this network buildout at a community ice cream social at the Applegate River Lodge located at 15100 OR-238 in Applegate.

“Individuals and families who lacked access to broadband over the past two years missed out on public appointments, remote work opportunities, online learning, digital grocery deliveries, live-streamed religious services and much more,” said Representative Pam Marsh. “Spectrum’s network expansion will bring high-speed internet access and the benefits of connectivity to many of these families.”

Ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the Best Internet Service Provider for Rural Areas in its 2021-22 ratings, Spectrum Internet also exceeded advertised download and upload speeds for all tiers measured — even during peak weeknight usage between 7 and 11 p.m. — according to the FCC’s most recent “Measuring Broadband America Fixed Broadband Report” issued in December 2021. And all Spectrum Internet plans have no data caps, modem fees or contracts.

“Our mission is to build community vitality throughout the Applegate Valley, and access to reliable high- speed internet has become an essential part of connecting our communities and with the outside world,” said Seth Kaplan, Executive Director, A Greater Applegate. “Spectrum’s network expansion through the RDOF program will bring opportunities to families and small businesses throughout the Valley.”
